Frequently asked questions
How much do I pay into MyFutureFund?
In 2026 to 2028, 1.5% of your gross pay. It rises to 3% in years 4 to 6 (2029–2031), 4.5% in years 7 to 9 (2032–2034) and 6% from year 10 (2035). Your employer pays the same, and the State adds a third of your contribution (0.5% rising to 2%).
Is there a cap?
Yes: contributions are worked out on pay up to €80,000 a year. Above that, your employer and the State stop contributing.
Who is enrolled automatically?
Employees aged 23 to 60 earning over €20,000 a year who are not in a pension through payroll. People aged 18 to 22 or 60 to 66, or earning less, can opt in.
Is it worth staying in?
For every €1 you pay, your employer and the State add €1.33, before any investment growth. The State top-up is paid instead of tax relief, so it is worth the same to everyone; higher-rate taxpayers may get more from a workplace pension or PRSA with tax relief at 40%.
